Teaching
Example Modules I’ve Taught
Media Ethics (convener and seminar lead) – Level 5 core module asking students to critically engage with topics such as representation, AI, and influencer culture.
Media, Ethics and Social Justice (convener and seminar lead) Level 5 core module looking at the political and social impact of mass media, from far-right radicalisation to social justice movements.
Cultural and Creative Industries (seminar lead) – Level 4 core module introducing students to foundational cultural theory as well as working on practical cultural industry projects including event planning and zine making.
Media and Social Change (seminar lead) – Level 5 elective module building on previous knowledge about mass media and social justice, with a particular focus on indigenous protest movements.
Alongside my research, I convene and teach modules in Media and Film. As a first generation graduate from a working class background I pride myself on being an approachable and encouraging teacher, cultivating an atmosphere in class that is relaxed, engaging and, hopefully, fun.
Undergraduate teaching has been one of the unexpected loves of my life. I truly believe that the current generation of undergraduates are the best experts we have on digital media culture, and I love nothing more than watching them grow in confidence as they challenge and inspire each other in seminars.
